Vehicle crime prevention advice

Dear residents,

We would like to share some general advice around vehicle security to help keep our community safe. Taking a few simple precautions can significantly reduce the risk of opportunistic theft.

Please consider the following advice:

Always ensure your vehicle is securely locked when unattended, even if parked outside your home

Remove all valuables from your vehicle, including bags, tools, and electronic devices, and avoid leaving any items visible

Double-check that windows, sunroofs, and doors are fully closed and secure

Consider using additional security measures such as steering wheel locks, alarms, or tracking devices

Keep car keys and spare keys safe and out of sight, especially away from doors and windows

For keyless vehicles, consider using a signal-blocking (Faraday) pouch to reduce the risk of relay theft

If you have CCTV or a doorbell camera, ensure it is working and positioned effectively

We also encourage residents to remain aware of their surroundings and report any suspicious behaviour. You can do so via 101 or online. In an emergency or if a crime is in progress, always call 999.
